This assignment requires the creation of a new wiki page, just like you did for the Global Issues (2.16.2012), Shakers Summary (2.28.2012), Anderson High School (3.14.2012), Ideal High School (3.16.2012), 30 Days on the Reservation (3.22.2012) and The Tour of West Java (3.28.2012) , the Cool Hunt (4.23.2012) and your This I Believe page (5.3.2012) and Racial Stereotypes (5.3.2012) and the Subculture Web Quest (6.4.2012)

Your final wiki assignment of the semester is to become and expert on a subculture or counterculture and t BUILD A WIKI PAGE that focuses on your chosen sub culture. If you have a particular topic in mind for this project begin searching the web for links and resources. This will give an indication of the type of resources that exist on the web for you.

Remember.....

A subculture can be defined as a set of cultural characteristics shared among a group within a society that (1) are distinct in some ways from the larger culture within which the group exists, but (2) also have some features in common with the larger culture. Some case studies can include: Hip-Hop, Computer Geeks, Dead Heads, Bikers, Ravers, Skaters, and Gothics

A counterculture exists when a subculture adopts values and beliefs that are in opposition to those of larger society. Some case studies can include: Hare Krishnas, KKK, Aryan Nation, Hells’ Angels, Neo Nazi Skin Heads

This is the 12th Wiki Page we have created, so I am counted it as a TEST GRADE! What does that mean? All of your other assignments are worth 40% of your grade, while tests are worth 60%. Translation - If you tanked on the last open notes test, a strong showing on your Sub Culture case study could have a positive impact on your grade!!!

Investigate a sub culture or counter culture of your choosing and create an original wiki page on that sub culture or counter culture in American Society.

Your page should include....

   a. Background and history of your chosen sub-culture
    b. key terms associated with your sub-culture (this would be considered the "jargon" of the "argot" of your chosen sub culture
c. Images associated with your sub culture ( to show you can import graphics into a wiki page)
    d. Explanations of rituals or routines associated with your chosen sub-culture or counter culture.
